About
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the forest — a living, breathing organism whose story unfolds over centuries, surpassing our own existence. I am in constant search of unique wood — a material with painterly, organic edges, forks, natural irregularities, cavities, and swirling grains, all filled with distinctive character and untamed natural life. I strive to share its organic wildness, which astonishingly holds within it both pliability and a capacity for transformation. This is a material that bears the traces of time, of wounds and healings, creating unrepeatable structures.
Working with wood is an act of balance and resistance, where my artistic gesture enters into a dialogue with the chaotic logic of nature, forming a new point of equilibrium. I remove parts of the material, revealing hidden landscapes. Natural chaos becomes an ally of creative unpredictability. I am captivated by the moments when the material unexpectedly reveals its concealed qualities. I aim to work on the edge between control and spontaneity, allowing chance to shape the unique character of each piece.
Bio
Born and raised in the city of Ivanovo, I graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at IGASU in 2008. In 2006 began independently exploring woodworking and creating didgeridoos — traditional wooden wind instruments of the Indigenous peoples of northern Australia.
By 2012 opened my own workshop and started the first experiments on the lathe, drawn by the rich diversity of wood species and structures, the complexity of the craft, and its expressive potential. In my work, I use wood with burl and cap growths, as well as other valuable species. When selecting material, preference is given to pieces with painterly, natural edges, forks, organic irregularities, and swirling grain patterns full of unique character and untamed natural vitality.
